Begin a peaceful morning with quiet contemplation. Novices especially welcome. Meditation is taking a step back and letting yourself be an impartial observer of your own mind. Learn to develop the skill of sustained introspective awareness, learn what thoughts are and how you react to them, and learn how to sit restfully in a safe environment with nothing quite to do. It's expected that the first 20 minutes of each day will be an explanation of how meditation proceeds conceptually, followed by 40 minutes of silent meditation. The instructions given are intended for novices, but all are welcome. The conceptual explanation is entirely secular, adapted from Theravada Buddhism. Comfy clothing recommended!
Last year, Google proposed an update to the browser extension manifest file, also known as "Manifest v3". Their goal is to improve performance, make add-ons more secure, and respect user privacy. With the new version of the manifest, there is an opportunity to make breaking changes without impacting existing add-ons. The proposal has been in the news for impacting what ad-blockers can achieve, and many people have asked internally what this means for Firefox. This session will provide information about the current status of Manifest v3, and an overview of what security, privacy and performance benefits it will bring. We will lay out our current thinking on which parts of v3 are worth following to stay compatible, and where we might derive. We will touch on the topic of ad-blockers and provide sufficient time for an open discussion to answer questions. If there are any questions you'd like to bring up before the session starts, please reach out to @kewisch on Slack or ask in #add-ons.

Mozilla offers a number of products as official line extensions to help users customize their browsing experience. From containing Facebook to tracking prices, Mozilla’s line extensions provide powerful and easy ways for people to protect their privacy and security online, or add some whimsy to their browser. This session will provide a short introduction on the recommended approach towards such official extensions. We will provide information about the add-on policies, hosting and distribution options, as well as use and development of privileged APIs. If you or your team is writing or considering to write an official extension, join us to learn more and have all your questions answered. If there are any questions you'd like to bring up before the session starts, please reach out to @kewisch on Slack or ask in #add-ons.

ActiveData is a data warehouse with over 10 billion records spanning our builds, tests, code coverage, CI, vcs and much more! Come learn how to use this information in your data driven decision making. Please bring your laptop (with Python 3.6 or greater pre-installed) and a question you would like to try and answer. Here are some examples to get you started: Which tasks fail the least frequently? What are the longest running tests in my module? What is the average build time on Windows 10? How many compute hours are run on every push? Feel free to ping :ahal if you want to validate your question. After a short presentation, we will help you write an ActiveData "recipe" that answers your question and can be extended or shared with others.

Performance has become an important focus for the entire Firefox organization. To enable all teams to effectively work towards our goals, the performance team has been working hard to provide the rest of the platform team with the data and tools to seamlessly integrate the performance focus into their development workflow. This workshop will aim to guide a broad audience through different aspects of developing for performance, and the tools available to them now, and in the future! For those of you interested in following along with the demonstrations, some minor prep work can be found on the wiki page, see you there! https://wiki.mozilla.org/All_Hands/Whistler2019/PerfWorkshop

Transformation to Agile does not happen overnight. It is a gradual evolution of our teams and the processes we use. It is designed to enable our teams to be more collaborative, self-organized, and adapt to the ever changing environment to deliver business value. IT started the transformation in Q4 of 2018. Based on feedback from our team through our IT internal survey we are offering a session on Agile Mindset and how we can leverage it as we continue through our transformation.

We are headed to Summer Camp. The traditional view of a summer camp is a woody place with hiking, canoeing, and campfires is changing - sounds like Whistler, right? Summer camp is unique around the globe but we'll take the traditional Canadian version for our final night in Whistler. We'll ride up the Gondola (for about 25 mins) to the top of Whistler Mountain (first Gondola will depart at 6:35 pm). Once you arrive at 7:00 pm, we'll have some camp counselors to help you get around and find all the activities, food (all the food, and of course, s'mores), rock band karaoke, and photobooths. There will be plenty of ways to express your inner kid in creative ways, or simply enjoy the view. The last Gondola down will leave at 11:00 pm. Come to Camp Mozilla dressed as you like, but a traditional summer camper would wear shorts, t-shirts, bracelets, shades, patches, colorful hats, bandanas, tie-dye and more. Note: Whistler Blackcomb ski resort has banned smoking on their property including the ski, bike and hiking areas, lift lines, restaurants and parking areas. Roundhouse Lodge (our Friday evening venue) is part of Whistler Blackcomb ski resort and 100% non-smoking.
